Jan Hellriegel celebrates the release of her new single ‘Venus is Dead’ out now via DRMNZ.

‘Venus is Dead’ has a sultry, rock feel reminiscent of The Breeders or The Pretenders. Jan’s voice is playful and defiant.

"Lyrically I think of it as a very sexy song about the play between man and woman - you can make up the rest of its meaning," smiles Jan.

‘Venus is Dead’ is a resurrection of sorts, and part of a collection of 18 previously unreleased tracks entitled Lost Songs, to be released on May 17th.

A year ago while cleaning out the garage, Jan came across a forgotten taped up box containing a bunch of DAT and cassette recordings of old live sessions, demos and studio work from 1990 - 2003. Curious to hear them again, she headed to Stebbing Recording Studios where engineer Steve McGough carefully "baked" the old tapes and resurrected them as clean, digital files.

"On first listen I was just really pleased to hear the tunes again, and then a little sad that most had never been heard outside of the odd live gig," says Jan. "I’m a much braver person now, and excited to put these songs out there".

Hellriegel is currently offering pre-sales of Lost Songs, available exclusively here: www.janhellriegel.com
