Legendary New Zealand artist, John Rowles, has just been announced as special support guest for Cliff Richard and the Shadows NZ tour at the Bowl of Brooklands New Plymouth concert on Saturday 27th February.

Possessing one of the strongest and richest voices this country has ever heard, John Rowles is a renowned live performer and recording-artist. Idolised by millions, in his hay day the Kiwi superstar rivalled Tom Jones in success and Elvis Presley in sex appeal.

Arriving in England in the late sixties, he recorded the smash hit single "If I Only Had Time". The song reached the top of the charts in Great Britain, New Zealand and Australia. At 20 years of age, John Rowles became New Zealand's very first International Pop Star. Following this success were his Top 10 hits, "Hush Not A Word To Mary", "The Pain Goes On Forever", "One Day" and "M'Lady." Next to come was the success of "Cheryl Moana Marie", a song written for his younger sister that hit No.1 in Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii.

In 1980 he was very proud to accept the award of an O.B. E. for his contribution to music and promotion of his country overseas. Since then John has worked the Las Vegas, Australian and New Zealand cabaret circuits, appearing at all major venues and making guest appearances on a variety of television shows.
