Mega-stars including Taylor Lautner, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Jim Carrey, Black Eyed Peas, Ryan Sheckler, Jay-Z, Selena Gomez and Misty May Treanor reigned as this year's favourites, winning top honours at Nickelodeon's 23rd Annual Kids' Choice Awards held in Los Angeles over the weekend.
NZ celeb Kimberley Crossman (of Shortland St fame) attended the awards ceremony while in LA filming an exclusive New Zealand Orange Carpet pre-show to air here in New Zealand on Saturday 17 April @ 7.35pm prior to the premiere NZ screening of the Kids' Choice Awards @ 8pm (SKY channel 041) .
Kimberley has also been in LA completing ten challenges set for her by Kiwi Nickheads and filming behind-the-scenes preparations for the awards.
"This has been the most incredible trip, we've met some of the biggest names in Hollywood over the past week while filming for the Orange Carpet show - make sure you're tuned in for all the excitement, it's hilarious must-see TV!" she says.
The Kids' Choice Awards got off to a slime-filled start as host Kevin James and Adam Sandler opened the show with their own rendition of 'Get Slimed Tonight' while soaking the audience with the green goo. In a special honour, The First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama accepted the first-ever Nickelodeon Big Help Award for inspiring families to be healthy and active through her recently launched Let's Move! initiative.
Nickelodeon stars and music group Big Time Rush introduced international superstar Rihanna who was joined onstage by a giant dancing robot as she rocked the house. Teen-pop sensation Justin Bieber had the audience singing along to his performance of 'Baby', from his just-released My World 2.0 sophomore album.
The star-studded telecast featured additional celebrity participants, including: Chris Rock, Jackie Chan, Robert Downey Jr., Tyra Banks, David Spade, Jonah Hill, Rosario Dawson and George Lopez, Cory Monteith, Lily Collins, Victoria Justice, Lea Michele, Dev Patel, stars of iCarly, John Cena, Jaden Smith, Shaun White, Jackson Rathbone and many others.
Miranda Cosgrove and Keke Palmer presented First Lady Michelle Obama with Nickelodeon's first-ever Big Help Award for inspiring families to be healthy and active through her recently launched Let's Move! initiative. The award recognizes those who seek to better the world, and whose significant impact on their community has inspired kids to do the same. In a taped acceptance, the First Lady acknowledged it was an honour to receive the award and she encouraged kids to be active and take control of their lives and health.
