Macquarie Private Wealth New Zealand has signalled its commitment to the New Zealand market today through the announcement of a major sponsorship agreement with the Arts Foundation.

The three year commitment as the Arts Foundation's Principal Partner sees the establishment of New Zealand's first national awards for the arts, called the Macquarie Private Wealth New Zealand Arts Awards. The Awards are an annual event where more than $350,000 will be donated to high performing artists across multiple disciplines.

Macquarie Private Wealth New Zealand's investment is also enabling the Arts Foundation to launch a crowdfunding website, which the Foundation says has the potential to generate $3 million in new funding for the arts each year.

"We are pleased to invest in New Zealand's finest artists through the Macquarie Private Wealth New Zealand Arts Awards and to support the Arts Foundation to assist grassroots projects through their new crowdfunding website www.boosted.org.nz," says Ian Witters, Head of Macquarie Private Wealth New Zealand.

"We are very pleased to be forming this long term agreement with Macquarie Private Wealth New Zealand to grow support for New Zealand artists. Macquarie Private Wealth New Zealand shares our commitment to excellence as well as pride in the artistic achievements of New Zealanders," she adds.

Macquarie Private Wealth New Zealand operates on a national level offering a broad range of financial advice services, investment opportunities and financial solutions to personal investors.

The Arts Foundation invest in New Zealand's world class artistic talent through awards such as the Laureate and New Generation Awards and encourages and facilitates private giving to the arts.

The Arts Foundation is New Zealand's only privately funded and governed organisation committed to these goals.

The Foundation's awards are funded by a permanent capital of $6 million and partnerships with donors. The Arts Foundation is a membership organisation that is expecting legacies of $15 million.
