No matter how you look at it, 'The Amazing Spiderman' is going to be measured up against the first trilogy, and for many reasons, from the storytelling elements to the actors themselves. Even more so with number 3 still fresh in people’s minds, which soured the name of Spiderman, if even just a little bit.
“Peter Parker finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disappeared when he was young. His path puts him on a collision course with Dr. Curt Connors, his father's former partner.”
It was hard to watch this movie without my thoughts drifting to the originals every few minutes, and though it had elements that were better than those, overall it just fell flat. I could write more about it, but feel the best thing to say is that it's my 3rd favorite Spiderman film, behind the awesome second, and pretty cool first one. FYI, I try to pretend number three was never made.
It's still a visually pretty film, but just doesn't have enough juice to make you forget about the awesome originals.
