Movie Review – Mission Impossible 4

It’s not often in a series of films that the 3rd is the best, and by a long shot, but that’s exactly what happened with the ‘Mission Impossible’ series. I really liked number 1, number 2 was pretty average, but number 3 was just an awesome action thriller! So when they said they were making a 4th, and was going to be directed by the genius film director Brad Bird, who funnily enough had only directed animated films up to this point, I was damn excited! Though the inevitable feeling was always going to be hanging around, and that being, how could it live up to the awesome 3rd film? So when I saw the trailer for it, I quickly let my worries ease as the film looked badass! So much so, I was more than happy enough to spend a little bit more to see it on the IMAX screen.

“The IMF is shut down when it's implicated in the bombing of the Kremlin, causing Ethan Hunt and his new team to go rogue to clear their organization's name.”

Well, what got this film off to an even more badass start was it had the first 6 minutes of the new Batman film playing in-front of it! So by the time the movie started I was already pretty amped. The film was as ever slickly made, with some pretty epic action pieces and some great acting, and though I really liked it, it just never reached the heights of number 3. That’s not to say it’s still not a great film in its own rights, and I would still say it’s my second favourite in the series to date. Though it set itself up in a big way for sequels, and I think it could possibly start up a couple more being made in the coming years, and I for one am pretty excited about that!

8.5 out of 10 from me.
