I hate missing my press screenings for films, and this movie was one of them, but I made sure I kept an eye out for its general release, and despite having to actually pay to see it this time, I was looking forward to seeing it.

“Set in the near future, an ex-jewel thief receives a gift from his son: a robot butler programmed to look after him. But soon the two companions try their luck as a heist team.”

'Robot and Frank' is a damn hard film to review, because it really should have been one of those sweet and 'different' films that you remember fondly. But with a fair decent amount of little flaws, plus the often tough times where you really don't like the main character Frank, left me not really liking it as much as I think I could have done, while at the same time it was unique enough for me to really want to appreciate it more. Also bittersweet films don't connect with me as much these days, but for others they still do.
