Get Him To The Greek

‘Get Him To The Greek’ is pretty much a sequel to the comedy ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshal', which came out a couple of years ago. Maybe a spinoff movie is a better way of putting it, as this story doesn’t follow either of the two main characters from the first movie but rather the very colourful character of Aldous Snow, the rock ’n’ roll love interest of the film's namesake, Sarah Marshal. His character was so outlandish and played brilliantly by British comedy actor Russell Brand that he kind of stole the show. So getting his own spinoff movie wasn’t that far-fetched an idea.

“Aaron Greenberg gets things done. The ambitious 23-year-old has exaggerated his way into a dream job just in time for a career-making assignment. His mission: Fly to London and escort a rock god to L.A.s Greek Theatre for the first-stop on a $100-million tour. His warning: Turn your back on him at your own peril. British rocker Aldous Snow is both a brilliant musician and walking sex. Weary of yes men and piles of money, the former front man is searching for the meaning of life. But that doesn’t mean he can’t have a few orgies while he finds it. When he learns his true love is in California, Aldous makes it his quest to win her back right before kick-starting his world domination.”

I really enjoyed this movie and it had some great performances from the leads and as I said before, Brand was great as the outrageous Snow.  My only critique of him is that he’s a bit of a one note pony, as I just can’t see him playing any other role than the types he’s played so far in his short career. However, he does a great job in this film and it was a solid comedy throughout with some pretty funny cameos from various musical celebrities, not to mention the scene stealing Puff Daddy who plays the eccentric music studio head. I wouldn’t be surprised to see his own spinoff from this spinoff in the future.

A solid 7.5 out of 10 from me.
