Inception

It’s not often that films come under the radar and when their trailers hit screens, they build up so much excitement that even average movie fans are clamouring to make it to the cinema to see it when it’s released. Many friends of mine who rarely go to the cinema were out seeing this film even before I was able to get out and see it, and this was guys and girls.  So instantly you know something's been done right when getting that kind of reaction. I know when I first saw the trailer that it immediately got me excited and when I went into the cinema I still didn’t really know what I was going to see, which is always an exciting thing for a film lover.

“Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.”

This film lived up to every bit of hype surrounding it, and more, and its rare, very rare, for a film to break into my 'best films of all time' list and this film did that. For me, it was a perfect film from the acting, directing, writing and its sheer originality, especially in today’s world where films are often sequels or based on already popular books or comics. This was a gem of a film and an experience that will be hard to forget - it really is rare to see something like you've never seen before.

10 out of 10 from me.
