Pixar began the world of feature length CG animated films with ‘Toy Story 1’ way back in 1995 and they have continued to break new ground with every film since then, not only with box office takings but also in showing that great characters and stories can come from the world of animation. Fifteen years on, and one sequel later, Pixar brings us the third and final instalment in the ‘Toy Story’ trilogy and with such a beloved series coming to an end was there ever any doubt that Pixar would once again deliver absolute gold with this final instalment? Not from me that’s for sure.

“Woody, Buzz and the whole gang are back. As their owner Andy prepares to depart for college, his loyal toys find themselves in day-care where untamed tots with their sticky little fingers do not play nice. So, it's all for one and one for all as they join Barbie's counterpart Ken, a thespian hedgehog named Mr. Pricklepants and a pink, strawberry-scented teddy bear called Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear to plan their great escape.”

‘UP’, which was Pixar’s last film, made me tear up within 10 minutes and I think, as an adult, that’s the first time an animated film has been able to do that to me and now this film was the second! If the scene in question had gone on even further I think it may have been more than just tears welling in my eyes, however, they pulled back a little bit, which is to be expected with a film that has a huge kid fan base. But this is evidence that these guys are absolute geniuses at story telling if they can pull at your heart strings with CG characters. This film more than lives up to the job it has in rounding out the series and sits nicely in the framework of Pixar greats.
