NZ Web Fest announces winners

At the end of a lively day of panel discussions, presentations, and the world premiere of Chaz Harris' web series End of Term, awards host JJ Fong announced the winners of the inaugural NZ Web Fest awards at Media Design School in Auckland on Saturday evening.

Three of the five nominees for the Best Web Series award participated in the day's conference sessions, but the judging gods smiled on one who hadn't. Justin Harwood's High Road was announced the winner, adding to its awards haul from international events. High Road cast members Mark Mitchinson (Best Actor, NZ Film and TV Awards, Bloodlines and Siege) and Rob Dollars collected the award.

Robbie Nicol's White Man Behind A Desk won the Best Web Show award, which was accepted by the Candle Wasters' Claris Jacobs (whose Nothing Much To Do was a nominee for Best Web Series).

Jamie Curry, whose In Conversation session with event MC Caito Potatoe had begun the day, won the Best YouTube Channel award. Ollie Langdon, who'd taken over the MC baton from Caito for the festival's afternoon sessions, also ended the day a winner by taking out the YouTube One To Watch award.

The inaugural edition of the NZ Web Fest ( ran 7 November at Media Design School, Auckland.
