Budding poets and performers will have a chance to channel their inner 'Sam Hunt' and 'James K Baxter' when an Open Mic Night is held at Garden Place Library later this month.
The event will be held on Friday, 27 July from 5.30pm-7.30pm to coincide with National Poetry Day 2012, and invites members of the public to take to the microphone to read their own poem or that of their favourite Kiwi poet.
Hamilton City Libraries Readers Advisory/Community Outreach Coordinator Tracy Robinson says "The Open Mic Night is an opportunity for a range of poets to get up and have a go at sharing their work. All are welcome."
The Open Mic Night is hosted by Poets Alive with support from Hamilton City Libraries, Wintec and Waikato University. Entry is free, with registrations accepted on the night.
