New Zealand Wide Pro Wrestling (NZWPW) is joining the fight to improve men's health by getting in the ring for Movember with current heavyweight champion D-Hoya leading the way.
The Movember Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organisation which raises awareness and funds for men's health issues.
This year's funding will go to the Cancer Society of New Zealand in support of prostate cancer and the Mental Health Foundation for its 'Out of the Blue' depression awareness campaign.
Managing Director of NZWPW, Martin Stirling says the wrestlers are excited to be raising money for Movember and have set world renowned wrestler Hulk Hogan's impressive mo as a benchmark for them all to aspire to.
"The guys can't wait to take part and there is a lot of ribbing going on between them as to who will grow the best one," he says. "The big mo unveiling show is going to be a huge affair so we hope to see a lot of people come down and show their support for Movember." Each wrestler taking part will participate in a public shave-off at a preliminary show on October 30th. Their mo-growing efforts will then be recognised at a celebratory show on Friday, November 27th.
The show will feature some of the country's other top pro wrestling talent including Rufguts, JC Star, Corey Dallas and Stellar Hammer.
The NZWPW mo unveiling will be held at the Lower Hutt Town Hall - doors open at 7pm with the show due to start at 7:30pm.
Tickets will cost $15 for an Adult/Teen and $10 for a Child and are available from the Sports Den, 67 Queens Drive, Lower Hutt - all proceeds will be donated to Movember.
