Shopping - from Cannes to Papakura

Acclaimed New Zealand film Shopping will be screened at the Auckland Council owned art facility Hawkins Theatre in Papakura during June.

Set in 1981, New Zealand, in a world of muscle cars, racial tensions and a thieving bird, this movie is about the chance encounter by small town lad Willie with charismatic thief Bennie and his close-knit gang of ‘shoppers’ which leads into the two worlds colliding with shattering consequences.

"Shopping has been recognised across multiple international film markets and competitions from Cannes to Sundance to Berlin. We are delighted to be able to offer Aucklanders the chance watch this great movie," says Auckland Council Arts and Culture Manager, Kaye Glamuzina.

"Following one of the screenings attendees will have the opportunity to meet some of the cast and directly ask questions, hear experiences about the making of the film and learn behind-the-scenes secrets."

This is a great opportunity to see a wonderful New Zealand film on a big screen so make sure you book in advance with the Hawkins Theatre.
