Singer-guitarist David Kilgour of influential rock group The Clean and New Zealand's best-loved poet Sam Hunt perform together at a very different LATE at the Museum. Auckland Museum's LATE 03: Voyage of the Ancestors explores human's remarkable migration to New Zealand, so it's apt the event welcomes a unique opportunity to explore the museum to discover SJD and top musicians in the galleries.

Following on from their recent sold-out shows, David and Sam bring their exceptional performance to the museum's Grand Foyer on Thursday 5 November. Upstairs, one of New Zealand's most popular indie-bands, SJD, take to the Treasures and Tales gallery.

Unconventional violinist Elena will unleash her melding of Maori and European musical traditions on the Auckland 1866 gallery, followed by world-renowned jazz oboist Russell Walder in Oceans.

The panel discussion in the Maori Court, explores the human journey to New Zealand, one of the most remarkable migrations ever. The panel features Auckland University Professor of Archaeology Geoffrey Irwin, whose research focuses on the colonisation of the Pacific; Matahi Brightwell, who has been instrumental in the revival of traditional methods in navigating the Pacific; and Jock Phillips, General Editor of Te Ara: The Encyclopaedia of New Zealand.

The LATE will provide an opportunity to see Auckland Museum's brand new exterior lighting, which is being installed to celebrate the building's 80 years in the Domain.
