Dynamic Welsh rockers, Stereophonics will perform in New Zealand this April, following the November 2009 release of Keep Calm and Carry On (Universal Music), their 7th studio album.

Formed in Wales in 1996, Stereophonics' sound is as distinctive as Kelly Jones' wonderfully rustic vocals and his poetic melancholy and elusively introspective lyrics.

The band's first studio album release Word Gets Around did just that, the band's enduring popularity solidified by extensive touring. Subsequent albums Performance and Cocktails, Just Enough Education To Perform, You Gotta Go There To Come Back, Language. Sex. Violence. Other? and Pull The Pin, expanded the band's fan base, the last five hitting the top spot in the UK charts.

With the release of a greatest hits collection, Decade In The Sun, featuring key tracks such as Have A Nice Day, Dakota, Mr Writer, Superman, Just Looking, Pick a Part That's New, The Bartender and the Thief, and Maybe Tomorrow, the band's worldwide album sales have now surpassed 9 million.

Stereophonics first performed here in 1997 when after a particularly good night out they wrote the song "The Bartender and the Thief", they last hit our shores in May 2008, selling out their two Auckland shows.

"As the boys played the opening strains of Dakota there wasn't a person in the house who couldn't help but get caught up in the sway of the crowd." The West Australian

"The gig grounds to a halt with the feeling of a homecoming girls are fawning at Kelly as he croons away in a cigarette voice that threatens to - but was never going to - break All in all we all felt proud to be Welsh. Even if just for a couple of hours."

"Ending the night with the delicious Dakota the Brits left the stage to a massive ovation." Drum NSW

"Stereophonics cap off a set which has showed just how much of a solid live act they've become. A truly memorable night." Time Off
