The Teddy Bears Picnic Comes To Groynes For Children's Day

First Sunday of March in Christchurch is the PSIS Children's Day at Groynes. And this year the teddy bears are coming too.

Previously held at the Mona Vale, the Breeze Teddy Bears Picnic has found a new home at the Groynes, where a special lawn will be set up for pre-school and primary school-aged children to hold a picnic for their teddies.

The music, comedy, puppetry and magic that is associated with the Teddy Bears Picnic will now complement the fun offered by the PSIS Children's Day activities including such favourites as Treasure hunt, Bouncy castles, Barnby bee and pony rides. Children will also get a chance to take part in activities like performing arts, boat rides, soap and stone carving, face painting and water sports.

Previous turnouts at Children's Day have been high and organisers are hoping for fine weather to make this year's event the most successful ever.

The PSIS Children's Day is part of the national focus on motivating adults towards positive appreciation and support of children. The Christchurch event is part of the Garden City Summertimes promotion and has enjoyed immense success since its inception.

Organisers are advising the public to bring their own picnic and water as only a few groups are fundraising with food.

Christchurch City Council events are smokefree so please help us to encourage healthy, non-smoking events. Remember, kids copy what they see so keep our events smokefree.
