Following the success of the NZ premiere of The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later at BATS Theatre in March, The Moving Theatre Company, in association with Alacrity Productions, are bringing the all-powerful production up North as they play Auckland's Basement Theatre from 28th August - 8th September.

The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later (TLP:10) is the epilogue to the prolific and iconic Laramie Project. Edited together from interviews within the community of Laramie, Wyoming following the brutal murder of Matthew Shephard in an apparent hate-crime, the epilogue is 100% verbatim and played by eight actors in a multitude of roles, from cops to priests, mothers to criminals.�

Heartfelt, humorous and provoking - TLP:10 is a work that calls for talk about social change towards prejudice, violence and intolerance.�It shows us not how far we've come, but how far we still have to go in the fight for true equality - illustrating the important role that freedom of speech plays in helping us to get there.

Alacrity Productions (Munted) and The Moving Theatre Company (Dog Sees God, Mr Marmalade, Sunday Roast) are dedicated to mounting pioneering, modern works that explore theatrical language and form, promoting conversation with audiences on the social, political and human issues that affects us all. This style of Documentary/Verbatim theatre gives audience a more immediate, authentic performance than the common fictional piece and opens a forum for reflection, discussion and change.

Co-director Kate McGill's last work was the sell out season of Munted, based on the effects of the Christchurch earthquake, performed earlier this year in both Wellington and Christchurch, ahead of an Auckland season in September. Prior to this, McGill was privileged to travel to the USA to work directly with the Tectonic Theater Project on the creation of TLP:10 and in doing so was granted the exclusive performance rights for a New Zealand production of the work.

Daniel Williams - co-Director and Award Winning Designer - has worked with the likes of Long Cloud Youth Theatre, Almost A Bird Theatre Collective and Downstage and recently designed the iconic NZ piece Michael James Manaia as part of the NZ International Arts Festival for Taki Rua Productions.
