The Festival of Colour and Luggate Hotel in association with Arts on Tour New Zealand are delighted to bring Don McGlashan to Luggate Hall on Saturday April 24 2010.

This hugely talented performer is recognised as one of New Zealand's foremost songwriters and artists with five entries in APRA New Zealand's Top 100 Songs of All Time.

He comes to us from a sell-out show in the Wellington festival and from a wildly popular WOMAD appearance. His performance will include favourites such as 'Bathe in the River' written for the film "No 2' and 'Anchor Me' as well as other great songs from his repertoire - including items from his two most recent CD's 'Warm Hands' and 'Marvellous Year'.

He was a member of the percussion ensemble From Scratch from 1979-86 and was drummer and singer with Auckland agit-punk band Blam Blam Blam from 1980-82.

Most famously he was singer and main songwriter for The Mutton Birds from 1991-2002. And he starred in a sell-out performance at the very first Festival of Colour in 2005.

He has composed numerous soundtracks for television and movies including among others 'Other Halves', 'An Angel at my Table', 'Cinema of Unease', 'Dean Spanley' and 'Show of Hands'.

"McGlashan is among our finest songwriters. He's our greatest musical storyteller. His narrative songs of people and places, supported by his tunesmith's ear, have always resonated" -Russell Baillie: NZ Herald.

"The ex-Mutton Bird front-man is a hands down winner. McGlashan is the rarest of songwriters" - Greg Bartalson: The Big Takeover

This performance at Luggate Hall is a collaboration between the Festival of Colour and Luggate Hotel to give music lovers an opportunity to hear this prolific singer/songwriter in the fabulous acoustic environment of Luggate Hall.

The Luggate Hotel offers great food and country hospitality, and there are two ticket options - either performance only at $20 or performance with two course dinner (main course and dessert) for $55 per person. Tickets are sure to sell out fast so make sure you book yours today.

Dinner will start promptly at 6pm and you must phone Luggate Hotel on 03 443 8523 to make your dinner reservation once you have purchased a ticket.
