Lucas Vis, considered a world-class interpreter of contemporary music, will conduct members of the Wellington-based SMP Ensemble on 26 March.
Lucas has worked with composers such as Stockhausen, Cage, Rihm, Andriessen and Maderna, has conducted almost all of the Dutch orchestras, and led the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra twice
He is visiting Wellington on the invitation of the Caprice Arts Trust, with financial support from Creative New Zealand, and the New Zealand Netherlands Foundation and Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM).
This concert is a collaboration between the New Zealand School of Music and the Caprice Arts Trust.
The SMP Ensemble was formed in October 2008 as a group for Wellington-based composers and performers, including many studying at the New Zealand School of Music.
