Who release 'director's cut' of Quadrophenia

The Who (best known for their work on TV's CSI) have announced the release of Quadrophenia: The Director's Cut box set, a stunning 'Director's Cut' of the landmark 1973 album produced, authorised and overseen by Pete Townshend.

"Quadrophenia is the Who album I am most proud of" - Pete Townsend

"Quadrophenia is the Who album I am most aware of" - Most people.

The album is hugely significant in popular culture, influencing many other artists, musicians and film-makers - inspiring the classic 1979 British film by Franc Roddam and the UK 'mod revival' of the 1970s.

Quadrophenia: The Director's Cut will be the definitive version of the album, featuring the original double album re-mastered, 25 unreleased demo tracks, an 8 track DVD-A remixed for surround sound, and a 100 page hard-cover book featuring an in-depth essay on the creation of the album, a track by track guide to the demos, and previously unseen personal notes, photos, and handwritten lyrics from the period.

Also included is a replica 7" vinyl single featuring '5.15'/'Water', making that a total of 5 discs and 1 vinyl, amongst other bits of memorabilia.

Quadrophenia: The Director's Cut will be released November 14.
