Northland DHB hospitals report Emergency Departments and clinical teams are managing well during the NZNO members strike.

"Emergency departments are relatively quiet and occupancy is slightly lower than expected," explains Margareth Broodkoorn, Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Northland District Health Board.

"Our contingencies have worked well so far so. To our clinical teams, NZNO members providing LPS and our army of volunteers - thank you."

The focus for hospitals remains patient safety through to 7:00 am tomorrow morning when the strike will end. Northland DHB employs 1500 Nurses, Midwives and Healthcare Assistants.

People should not delay seeking medical treatment or not going to hospital if the matter is urgent. They should dial 111 for emergencies or an ambulance.
