Government Drug Funder's Board Appoints New Members

Wellington, Aug 19 NZPA- The Pharmac board has appointed five new members to its consumer advisory committee after a review of the committee's terms of reference.

This brings committee membership to nine members.

The new members are Barbara Greer of Hokitika, a registered psychiatric nurse and a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, Shane Bradbrook of Wellington, a tobacco control advocate, Anna Mitchell of Christchurch, chairperson of the Canterbury Arthritis Advocates, Moana Papa of Auckland who is active in a number of organisations in the south Auckland Pacific community and Katerina Pihera of Rotorua, a representative of the Te Arawa health board.

There were 35 applications for positions on the committee which works to give Pharmac, the Government's drug funding agency, advice on how to best gather diverse consumer views, and consider these views when carrying out its role.
