Neurosurgery Report Gets Closer - Kind Of

The expert neurosurgery panel's draft report will be made available to South Island DHBs tomorrow [29 October] for fact checking.

National Health Board project manager David Graham says under the expert panel's terms of reference the DHBs receive the confidential draft for fact checking before it is finalised.

The boards have only a few days before the report is scheduled to be delivered to acting director-general of health Andrew Bridgman in the middle of next week.

The panel's terms of reference also indicate that the report will not be made public until Mr Bridgman makes his decision on the configuration of neurosurgery services in the South Island.

The panel was to have delivered the report to Mr Bridgman on 15 October, however there have been delays with it taking longer than expected for the panel to consult and collect information.
