Families staying at Ronald McDonald House South Island will directly benefit from a significant donation from SBS Bank.

The donation will be used to sponsor one of the House’s 27 bedrooms over the next three years, helping to provide accommodation and support to the hundreds of families who walk through the doors every year.

"The House receives no direct Government funding, and we are largely reliant on public donations, grants and corporate sponsorship to keep our doors open," said General Manager Emma Jones.

"SBS Bank’s generous donation will go a long way towards helping to underwrite the cost of annual operating expenses, and we are particularly grateful for such overwhelming support."

SBS Bank Area Manager Canterbury Matthew Mark said the business was proud to support such a worthwhile charity.

"The team at Ronald McDonald House South Island do an amazing job providing support, comfort and care to children and families going through challenging times. At SBS Bank we’re really excited to be able to make a real difference in the lives of these children and their families, who in turn make up our communities."

Mr Mark said all Christchurch-based SBS Bank retail staff would be involved in co-ordinated volunteer days allowing staff to make a practical difference in their communities.

"The Room sponsorship is very much in line with the ethos of SBS Bank. We’re passionate and committed to making our communities prosperous and often this is much more than just sponsoring worthy events and causes. It’s about rolling up our sleeves and really getting involved."
