West Coast DHB to release Report to the Community

The West Coast District Health Board this week releases its third Report to the Community, a newsletter giving a snapshot of the latest that's happening in the health system on the West Coast.

The Report details some of the ways the West Coast health sector is working collaboratively to improve on health priority areas, and via The Messenger, goes to every household on the Coast.

David Meates, West Coast DHB chief executive, says communicating to the community what the health sector is doing is a part of successfully delivering on health priorities, and is also a means to promote health initiatives that encourage healthier lifestyles.

"In this winter issue, we look at some of the steps we can all take to improve our own health and that of our families . . . through measures like childhood immunisation, having heart and diabetes checks and improving our nutrition.

"We know people continue to worry about the provision of some of the health services on the Coast, and so in this issue we also look at a future model of care that is people-centred, integrated and viable in the long term, and will support Coasters to be well.

"Our priorities focus on delivering the right care, at the right place, and at the right time, within our budget, and in collaboration with other health service providers. We aim to fulfil the Government's initiative of providing Better, Sooner, More Convenient health services - services that are closer to home that will help to make West Coasters healthier."

Mr Meates said the Report to the Community is also being sent to key people and organisations such as the Minister of Health, associate health ministers, MPs, and health sector professional groups. It also contains an opportunity for feedback, through or to Community Relations, PO Box 387, Greymouth 7840.
