World leader in nutrition explains cause of health issues

"You are what you eat". A common saying passed down from one generation to the next. However, is it really as simple as that?

World-renowned American scientist and physician Dr Arden Andersen claims that the solution to common health complaints is more complex than simply a balanced diet. The explanation to our problems can be found in our soil.

Dr Arden Andersen is coming to New Zealand this month to share his secrets for healthy and sustainable living. He will be in Hawke’s Bay on Saturday 16 February at Havelock North Function Centre for a captivating one day course entitled ‘Real Medicine, Real Health’.

The focus of the day is how human health, soil quality, and the nutrient levels in food are inextricably linked.

Aimed at farmers, horticulturalists, viticulturists and urban dwellers, this course is suitable for anyone with a keen interest in healthy and sustainable living. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of the connection between nutrition, general illness and specific diseases, plus an appreciation for the role that agriculture and GE crops play in all aspects of human health.

"The impact of toxic pesticides and the worsening quality of our soils can be seen daily. We see increasing human illness and disease trends including autism, birth defects, ADHD, fertility and spontaneous abortions, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, inflammatory and autoimmune disorders and childhood cancers, amongst others," claims Dr Andersen.

"Low quality food is slowing starving us of vital nutrients we need to be healthy, vibrant and live our full genetic potential," he says.

Dr Andersen is unique in his field. As a physician, holistic scientist and author of several books, he can effectively draw on his wide-ranging expertise to share his vision of healthy living through sustainable farming practices. Dr Andersen is a fully qualified family doctor and also a US Air Force Reserves Flight Surgeon.

Phyllis Tichinin of True Health, Hawke’s Bay scientist and organiser of Dr Andersen’s New Zealand courses, says Dr Andersen is a leading authority in soil and human health, and his courses highlight some very important and urgent issues that will interest and benefit everyone.

"In Hawke’s Bay, we have a tremendous climate and soils capable of producing quality fruit, wine, meat and vegetables. Unfortunately, closer inspection shows agriculture on a downward trend with collapsed soils, more fertiliser, modest reductions in pesticides and increasing animal health costs. The effects of current farming methods are all around us," says Ms Tichinin.

"The widespread use of chemicals is toxic to human life and consumers don’t want them on or in their food.

"Dr Andersen offers important information on what we need to be aware of when it comes to food in relation to our health and wellbeing - his Real Medicine Real Health lecture should not be missed."
