AA Traveller is taking over January 2, the only public holiday without a name, and declaring it New Zealand’s official Must-Do day.

Two months ago AA Traveller launched its new 101-Must Do’s this Summer list, urging Kiwis to explore the world class-attractions close to home rather than jetting off overseas.

AA Travel and Tourism General Manager Greig Leighton said January 2 is the perfect day to dive into the New Year, shaking off any post-New Years’ lull with a bracing trip to the country’s hidden gems and local favourites.

"Visit any of the 101’s on the 2nd, upload a photo to Facebook, Instagram or the 101mustdos.co.nz website with the hashtags #MustDone and #AATraveller and head to 101mustdos.co.nz to submit your entry in the draw to win an exclusive Must-Do Day prize Package.

"It’s more than a flash in the pan though as our #MustDone competition runs from now until the end of March with a range of awesome prizes including a brand new Suzuki Vitara, holiday packages, Must-Do experiences, event tickets, and more," Greig said.

AA Traveller Marketing Manager Lauren Driffill said the 101 Must-Do’s list is the perfect travelling companion across Aotearoa.

"If you want to take the list on the go and receive notifications when you’re near a Must-Do, you can simply download the Romer app and search the tag ‘AA Traveller’. We hope Kiwis will show January 2 the kind of love it really deserves, and adopt it as their new #MustDo day for the best possible start to 2019," Lauren added.
