Tradition dictates that Valentine’s Day should be celebrated at a restaurant, surrounded by other couples, violinists and red roses.
Prepared meal company FED. is doing away with tradition with its ‘Valendine’ meal box for two, delivered to your door on Valentine’s Day
The two, three or four course menu comes fully prepared and ready to heat and eat, so all you have to do is throw on the romantic tunes, light a candle and cosy up with your loved one.
The decadent menu, designed to raise the heart rate and made with the best of New Zealand produce, featured buttery chilli king prawns, pineapple and coriander salsa with vodka mayo to start.
For the main course, feast on smoked beef short rib with green chimichurri and a goat’s cheese and creamed polenta.
For dessert, finish with FED’s dark chocolate mousse. Layers of raspberry and Cointreau syrup are interspersed between layers of pistachio praline and a rich chocolate mousse, made with Whittaker’s dark chocolate - spoon feeding is optional.
For those that want to go all out, an additional cheese course completes the dining experience featuring Whitestone camembert with cardamom oatcakes and orange chilli jam.
FED. Chef Beckie Pilley says "Valentine’s Day is all about cosying up with the object of your affection and what better way to do that than in the comfort of your own home. The ‘Valendine’ menu is designed to give you the culinary restaurant experience in the privacy of your own home."
"Whilst we can’t guarantee you’ll get lucky we can ensure that you’ll go to bed well fed."
FED. has also teamed up with wine delivery company Winefriend to add a wine pairing.
The trio of wines paired by Chief Tasting Officer Yvonne Lorkin have been selected to complement the FED. menu:
ME by Matahiwi Estate Wairarapa Rosé 2018 matched with the buttery chilli king prawns, pineapple and coriander salsa with vodka mayo.
Ward Valley Epicentre Marlborough Pinot Noir 2016 matched with the smoked beef short rib
Thomas Goss NV Sparkling Shiraz paired with the dark chocolate mousse.
The Winefriend Valendine wine pairing is priced at $69.
The ‘Valendine’ meal boxes and wine pairing can be ordered from www.getfed.co.nz/valendine from 7th January and will be delivered on Thursday 14th February.
