Hutt City Libraries joins Excio to connect a new digital audience with a marvellous Marvel Comics e-collection as art.

For the first time comic buffs can enjoy their favourite Marvel cover artwork and characters from Deadpool, X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy, and more, on their phone screens thanks to the collaboration between Hutt City Libraries and Excio.

Straight from the screen background, Excio app users can select any Marvel Comics title that catches their eye and read more about it. Then link to the Overdrive collection with a simple double tap or swipe where they can read a sample or borrow the e-magazine. People can also 'like' their favourite cover art and share it with friends and family.

The public library services based in Lower Hutt, New Zealand, offers a wide range of physical and digital resources for their communities to enjoy. By joining Excio, they are now able to create a unique connection with a youth audience via an alternative access point. Kat Cuttriss, Manager, Hutt City Libraries says "Marvel comics are extremely popular collections and now we can reach audiences, including our tamariki and rangatahi, wherever they wish to engage: on the bus, in the library, at home, anywhere in fact. The library is a physical place to come as well as a virtual place to explore, and Excio enables us to engage through eye-catching covers in a new and exciting way."

Launched in 2017, the award-winning publishing platform Excio (available on iOS, Android and web browser) has grown from strength to strength reaching 200k+ downloads. Partners include Wellington City Libraries, Nikon New Zealand, Te Papa Museum and other local and international museums, libraries, and council services, as well as individual artists and photographers. Excio app showcases their book cover illustrations, exhibitions, artwork, and photos.

Created to fit seamlessly into people's daily routines, whilst helping to relieve mindless scrolling, Excio is the place where visual discovery begins. It's completely free for users to download and enjoy. The exclusive gallery app displays images on users’ mobile phone screen to bring fresh and more meaningful content to a visual loving audience. People can quickly and easily dig deeper into the stories behind the images.

With the addition of the Marvel Comics collection, Excio truly is a diverse digital gallery with something for everyone to enjoy. The Marvel Collection is just the start for Hutt City Libraries who have recently released their heritage collection of photographs of Hutt City on Excio with more being displayed later in the year. Also planned are events for creatives and photographers around Wellington and Hutt area to coincide with Heritage Week from 28th October to 3rd November.
