Closing Date Looms For Bluff Oyster Festival

The closing date for entries in the Kayes Bakery Creativity Awards, one of the traditional events at the Bluff Oyster & Food Festival each year, is looming. Entries close at 4pm next Friday (23 April) for all sections of the Creativity Awards which feature the Bluff Oyster Sack Fashion Parade and the Foveaux Fantasy category. The Bluff Oyster Sack Fashion Parade requires designers to create their garments from the humble Oyster Sack while the Foveaux Fantasy is an unrestricted wearable art contest allowing the use of any materials.

There are various sections in each competition for all age groups. Each category features great prizemoney and the winners of each are considered for the top prize, the Supreme Creativity Award. While entries close on 23 April the awards themselves culminate with the parade in front of the huge crowds that assemble at the Festival which takes place at the Stewart Island Experience Building on Foreshore Road, Bluff on Saturday 22 May.

The models take to the catwalk that day and never fail to amaze the audience with the wonderful garments that have been created from some unlikely materials. At the conclusion of the stunning display the prizewinners are announced on stage. Entry forms and the general conditions of entry are available from www.bluffoysterfest.co.nz .
