Mid-Winter European Christmas Banquet At Heritage Auckland

Ever feel you missed out on something, eating the Kiwi Christmas luncheon in searing heat? Then experience a uniquely Northern European Christmas banquet when it's the right temperature this winter at Heritage Auckland.

Heritage Auckland's German born and trained executive chef, Gordon Blume and his skilled culinary team will present a typical family style German Christmas meal on Friday evening the 26th of June at the hotel.

The dinner begins at 6.30 PM with traditional mulled wine on arrival followed by a three course meal at 7PM.

The event should appeal to ex pat Europeans and Kiwis alike, according to Karl Unterfrauner, Heritage Auckland's general manager, who began his hospitality career in European kitchens as a chef before moving into hotel management.

"The meal should please nostalgic European nationals and New Zealanders, wanting to experience a hearty mid winter Christmas dinner with all the trimmings," says Karl.

The meal will start with German meats and breads, followed by a selection of fish, pork and duck as a main course and finish with old favourites of Christmas Stollen, Sacher Torter and ginger bread.

"Christmas Eve is the normal time that European families get together for a special meal, so we want to create the same atmosphere with generous portions of delicious food shared around a large table of friends and family at our event," says Karl.

Tickets are  $65 GST inc. per person or $600 for a table of 10. The ticket includes a three course meal and mulled wine on arrival. Other beverages are additional. Guests share tables of 10 people.

To make a night of it, purchase an overnight package at Heritage Auckland including accommodation, the Christmas dinner for two and car parking for $280 GST inc.
