Orana Wildlife Park will open tomorrow for the first time in ten days! Chief Executive, Lynn Anderson, says "our dedicated team have worked tirelessly to clear the numerous hazards caused by the snow storm.
The snow created widespread damage, especially to the Lion and Tiger fences. A power spike resulted in blown switch boards and circuit breakers and the tree damage was extensive.
We are grateful to arborists, Treetech, who have been working at Orana since last Friday to clear trees; they have performed a marvellous job. We also sincerely thank the electricians who arrived on-site soon after the power spike to rectify the problems. While there is still further damage to repair, all matters relating to the animals and public safety have been attended to.
The ten day closure, the longest in Orana's history, has been extremely frustrating but we look forward to welcoming visitors back tomorrow" concludes Lynn.
