For kids it's never too early to start a Christmas wish list, and New Zealand's largest toy distributor is making it easy for kids and parents by getting their hot picks for Christmas out early this year.
Planet Fun CEO, Jeremy Kirk-Smith, travels the world in search of the hottest and most desirable games and toys, and brings them home to New Zealand. He has released his top picks for this Christmas based on global toy trends, with LeapFrog LeapPad topping the list of must-have gifts.
The LeapPad, an award-winning toy created by the world's leading developer of electronic educational toys, is a personalised learning tablet that mirrors popular adult tablets. Designed for kids 4 to 9 years old the LeapPad has a touch screen, over a hundred downloadable games and apps, a built-in camera and video recorder and motion sensors that allow you to play games by tilting the device.
Kirk-Smith says unlike other toy fads kids won't tire of the LeapPad. "Kids are much more technology savvy from a young age, often imitating their parents' love of high-tech gadgets. The LeapPad taps into the enthusiasium for adult smartphones and tablets and with hundreds of downloadable apps the learning and entertainment options for kids are endless".
Other hot picks on Kirk-Smith's list include the Razor Ultra Pro Lo Scooter for boys and the Lalaloopsy doll for girls.
"Over the last 12 months scooters have become hugely popular, in particular trick riding. Razor is one of the most well-respected scooter brands in the US with their own team of professional riders. Their scooters are made from aircraft quality aluminium and are designed specifically for more aggressive riding.
"For girls, it's the Lalaloopsy dolls, which are a modern take on the rag doll. Similar in charm to the Cabbage Patch Kids, there is a large range of dolls whose unique personalities are appealing to girls. They're a phenomenon in the US and the UK, and New Zealand girls are already snapping them up."
While the LeapPad and Razor scooter are pricier presents, the list released by Planet Fun covers a range of toys for all ages and budgets. Kirk-Smith said releasing the list early would give parents the chance to plan ahead for those bigger purchases.
Children wanting to compile their Christmas wish lists can do so on Planet Fun's website with the list being emailed to 'Santa'. http://www.planetfun.co.nz/Wishlist.aspx
