One little duck (2) and two fat ladies (88) bang on a drum (71) at the top of the shops (90). This sentence may sound like gibberish to most people, but thanks to Bayfair Shopping Centre and a local bingo revival, five local charities will benefit from these types of daily bingo calls in-centre.
Every time a bingo number is drawn and announced in-centre between Monday 6 and Sunday 19 February, Bayfair will match the dollar value and assign it to a charitable fund. Shoppers are encouraged to cast their vote on how they would like the fund to be divided between the Child Cancer Foundation, Homes of Hope, Tauranga SPCA, Breast Cancer Support Service and Tauranga Equestrian Therapy Centre (RDA). To date, $1,059 has been assigned to the fund and is set to increase by the end of the week. The total will be divided amongst the charities once the final votes are received on Wednesday 29 February.
Bayfair marketing manager Nina Rivett says it is a pleasure to support these local charities and the important work they do for the community. "Shoppers can also show their support by casting their vote at the station located at the Bayfair Information Desk (outside Kmart).
"The traditional game of Bingo was first played by the Romans hundreds of years ago and in recent times has been a hit in primary schools and lifestyle villages. Bringing the game to the centre in a range of formats during February means the whole community, young and old, can have some fun and have the chance to win some great prizes."
Local charities are not the only ones who will be benefitting from the bingo festivities. Each day, between now and Sunday 19 February, Bayfair is offering shoppers the chance to win back the value of their purchase in gift cards by keeping their February receipts and matching the total dollar amount shown to numbers drawn at random and announced in-centre at 11am and 3pm each day. Anyone with a matching receipt must be the first person to present this at the Bayfair Information Desk (outside Kmart) within 60 minutes of the call being made.
Live bingo games have also been taking place in-centre with more than more than 70 eager players filling the Bayfair food court last week. On Wednesday 15 February, between 10am and 11am, Bayfair will host its second round of bingo games, where there will be some great prizes up for grabs.
Until Wednesday 29 February, shoppers can also input the details of their purchases made during the month at Bayfair on www.bayfair.co.nz in order to enter a grand prize draw with a chance to win a $10,000 shopping spree. The more receipts you have, the more chances there are to win.
