Simon Gault opens his latest venture the Sous Chef Deli Shop onsite at our distribution warehouse, 84 Spartan Road, Takanini, Auckland.

Sous Chef’s beginnings were purely accidental. After returning to New Zealand after living in Italy for a year, Simon was back in the kitchen and wanting to create dishes using many ingredients he was now accustomed to. At this time sourcing these ingredients were difficult, so he called up his friends back in Italy and got them to send them over directly. Soon word got around and other chef friends started calling him wanting to get their hands on these products too. This quickly turned into a full-blown business flying in premium fresh products predominantly from Italy and Spain.

Sous Chef is serious about searching out, tasting and sourcing some of the best food ingredients available from around the globe. Simon Gault handpicks every product to ensure we only range the best in unique, high quality food.

The Sous Chef Deli Shop is about giving home cooks that extra five percent magic. Open Monday to Friday 8.00am - 3.30pm, just off the motorway. Come in, have a taste and get easy cooking tips and advice on how to use the products from Desma, our chef in residence. Before joining the Sous Chef team, Desma was sous chef at Cibo restaurant in Parnell for the last 12 years. Book a group of friends for a full tasting experience and receive 20% discount off all our products. Delicious take away hot soup is also available daily between 11am-3pm daily through winter. This week it’s Ribollita Soup with Buffalo Buttered Baguette.
