Stop this madness and bring on Summer

We thought things couldn't get much worse after the devastating earthquake in christchurch but the bad news just keeps on coming.

With many homes and businesses in Christhchurch devastated and the never ending barrage of after shocks fraying whats left of peoples nerve endings the emotional suffering is going on long after the 'big one' stopped doing its thing.

From shaking we moved on to shivering. The biggest storm on the planet at the moment parked itself in the Southern Ocean and has refused to go away. Its effects have been felt across New Zealand for more than a week now and it stretches as far as Australia.

Southland has been especially hard hit with Stadium Southland collapsing entirely along with several other commercial buildings. Not from tremors this time but under the weight of particularly moist snow. There has been more snow elsewhere and flooding in Manawatu. Most of the country has been given the gale treatment with high winds knocking over trees and damaging buildings.

You know what I am talking about eh? Because everyone has had more than their share of rain, wind and for some snow.

I just what you to know that I am well over all this and am more than ready for Summer to arrive. Remember Summer? Blazing sun, blue skies, warm breezes, sand, sea and BQQ's, Hopefully daylight saving coming in this weekend will trigger a positive weather shift. I know there is no correlation but I have got to cling to some hope that things will get better soon.

It would be great to not see the news full of wrecked houses and facilities, with shots of hundreds of dead lambs being heaped up. While we are in the mood for ending weather madness we could also stop the human madness. A father wanting name suppression so he can go and tell his 5 year old boy he has to stay with someone else for now because the Police are charging daddy with killing mummy. Give me awful weather any day over human generated evil.
