Villa Maria wins two golds at London Wine Comp

Villa Maria has received two gold medals at the prestigious International Wine Challenge in London.

Golds were awarded to the Single Vineyard Southern Clays Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012 and the Private Bin Hawkes Bay Syrah 2010.

Wines are stringently critiqued and tasted at least three times by a minimum of ten of the finest wine tasters in the world.

Villa Maria Senior Marlborough Winemaker Jeremy McKenzie spoke of his affection for this wine, "A cool 2012 season provided a wonderfully powerful wine with gorgeous fruit-driven flavours, it’s a brilliant example of a delicious Wairau Valley Sauvignon Blanc and I’m thrilled to see it awarded a gold, especially given the high calibre of wines that the IWC attracts," he said.

The International Wine Challenge boasted more than 12,000 entries this year and is one of the largest blind tasting competitions in the world.
