'Economic Development At The Price Of Infants' Wellbeing - We Object!'

Gerry Brownlee thinks a kilo of infant formula is worth 10 times the value of powdered milk. The Infant Feeding Association of New Zealand (IFANZ) thinks breastmilk is worth 100 times the value of infant formula. Economic development by pushing infant formula is at odds with our very own Ministry of Health who is trying to promote breastfeeding to improve health outcomes for children.

"What is Gerry Brownlee thinking suggesting New Zealand increases production of infant formula for exporting? Does he realise that every baby when fed infant formula is compromised in their development. It doesn't make sense that the development of a child in Asia is expendable for the economic development of our country!" says Louise James Coordinator of IFANZ.

"Producing infant formula and exporting to increase GDP for New Zealand is unethical!"
