As the electric scooter phenomenon accelerates throughout New Zealand, urban mobility company Lime is demonstrating its commitment to safety, hosting a Rider Safety Summit this Saturday at New Zealand’s national stadium, Eden Park. The Summit is part of Lime’s $US3 million investment in reinforcing the importance of rider safety and responsibility through its campaign: ‘Respect the Ride’.

Lime Launcher Hank Rowe said Lime is committed to the safety of riders and the wider community.

"Safety remains our number one priority and we will continue to educate our riders on best riding practices," Mr Rowe said.

"While we take all incident reports seriously, we are glad to say less than 0.05 per cent of Lime rides in New Zealand have resulted in injury." Rugby legend and Eden Park ambassador, Keven Mealamu will join Auckland riders as they celebrate safety in a sensational scooter soiree.

This free event will not only provide riders with a fun morning of give-a-ways and games but educate riders on the best way to Lime.

Lime is the official mobility partner of iconic stadium, Eden Park where the event will be held.

Eden Park Chief Executive Officer, Nick Sautner is excited to be a part of the first event of its kind in the country.

"We’re pleased to be able to offer Aucklanders an opportunity to learn the ABCs of safe scooter practise ahead of the summer break," Mr Sautner said.

"This will enable more Kiwis, and tourists, to utilise this accessible mode of transport to come and go from the Park more seamlessly."

Lime has seen incredible success in New Zealand, recording more than 500,000 rides since its dual launches in Auckland and Christchurch in October and is looking to expand its services to other cities.

Lime’s purpose to improve city living and urban transportation infrastructure has transformed travel across the globe, expanding to more than 125 markets, 14 countries and clocking 20 million rides in 18 months.
