Timaru District Mayor, Nigel Bowen, extended his congratulations to Presbyterian Support South Canterbury, saying that he was looking forward to welcoming our newest residents to the district.

"The whole Timaru District is known for its friendliness and fantastic quality of life and we’re looking forward to welcoming these latest residents to become an integral part of the community.

"Many of these people are leaving difficult and dangerous environments but also their wider families and support networks behind, which can make settling into a new community challenging.

"However, they bring with them a wealth of skills, knowledge and fresh perspectives and with the right support to get settled can enhance and enrich our communities.

"Presbyterian Support South Canterbury already do a wealth of excellent work in the community, and are well prepared to help people settle into their new lives in Timaru, but it’s also important that the community extends the warm welcome that we’re known for."
