The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) has announced that 2010 will be the last year it sponsors Polyfest.
ACC has been a major sponsor of Polyfest since 2003, using the event as an opportunity to promote understanding of the ACC Scheme to Maori and Pacific Peoples.
Chief Executive, Dr Jan White, said "ACC has enjoyed a happy relationship with Polyfest, one that has been beneficial for all parties involved. However, we're focusing now on increasing the ability of our frontline staff to ensure people of all ethnicities get the help they need after an injury, and in particular to get them back to work or independence as soon as possible."
"We've been working closely with the Polyfest organisers to keep them informed of our intentions and we're really looking forward to celebrating a great event in March."
Tania Karauria, Director of ASB Polyfest, acknowledged ACC's contribution over the years and the important role it had played.
"We've enjoyed a great relationship with ACC for a long time and appreciate their support over the years. It's natural for sponsorships to come to an end at some stage and this gives us a chance to look for new opportunities with other organisations."
