Auckland, March 20 NZPA - A dangerous sex criminal attacked two women while he was on parole and under Corrections Department supervision.

Andre Charles Port was released from prison in November 2007 after serving 10 years for sex attacks on women. The release was under strict parole supervision for six months but three days before the supervision conditions ended, in May 2008, Port attacked a woman in the changing rooms at the ASB Tennis Centre in Auckland, the New Zealand Herald reported today.

He fled when she fought back but a fortnight later he abducted a nurse at knifepoint in the Auckland suburb of Epsom. She escaped and Port, 31, fled in her car but was arrested.

Port was found guilty of both attacks and is to be sentenced in the High Court at Auckland next week.

After his release his parole conditions meant he could not leave his residence without the supervision of an approved adult but the Corrections Department said those conditions were relaxed a few days before his parole was due to end on May 13.

Port had a history of sexual offending and after he had punched a woman and assaulted another in a shower at the YMCA he told police he "wanted to hurt women".
