Auckland, Oct 13 NZPA - An Auckland real estate agent accused of kidnapping five-year-old Chinese girl Cina Ma will not know until the middle of next year whether he will have to stand trial.

Deqiong Deng, 25, of Rothesay Bay, reappeared in North Shore District Court today for a pre-depositions hearing and to notify a second change of lawyers.

He was remanded in custody until November 10 for another pre-depositions hearing on a charge of unlawfully abducting Cina with intent to hold her for ransom.

Deng is expected to appear on May 14 next year for a two-day depositions hearing to decide if there was enough evidence for the case to go to trial.

Cina, also known as Xin Xin, was taken from outside her Albany home on Auckland's North Shore by a masked man on July 14, bundled into a car and driven away.

She was found unharmed five days later in a walk-in wardrobe in a new but unoccupied house within 200 metres from her home.
