Deps Hearing Begins For Man Accused Of Informer's Murder

Palmerston North, Nov 4 NZPA - The man accused of murdering police informer Nicholas Pike yesterday faced a depositions hearing to decide whether he should stand trial.

Mr Pike disappeared six years ago and his body has never been found.

The crown alleges the 37-year-old accused man, who has name suppression shot Mr Pike around March 17 2002 three days after he went missing from Mount Maunganui.

Police believe he was murdered at an area north of Waiouru.

The depositions hearing in Palmerston North District Court is expected to take three weeks.
