Wellington, March 12 NZPA - A Taranaki disqualified driver is advising other banned motorists to stay away from anything with a motor, after being caught driving a golf cart beside a road.
A passing police officer stopped Waitara spray painter Quintin Loveridge while driving in a friend's golf cart ona grass verge and asked to see his licence, the Taranaki Daily News reported.
Loveridge, who had been suspended from driving after collecting too many demerit points, told the officer he wasn't aware the grass classed as a road, or the cart -- with a top speed of around 10kph -- was classed as a motor vehicle.
But he received a further three months' disqualification.
Loveridge warned other banned drivers to stick to their push-bikes.
"Be aware you can drive nothing with a motor. Stick to the pedals," he said.
