Christchurch, Dec 11 NZPA - A Queenstown man has admitted four charges of importing the class B drug ecstasy and is in custody awaiting sentence in almost three months' time.

Luke Dale, in his late 20s, will be sentenced on March 5 after his guilty pleas in the Christchurch District Court today.

Judge Colin Doherty asked for a pre-sentence report after convicting him on four ecstasy importing charges, one of possessing the drug, and one of importing other drugs.

It is understood the charges relate to a drugs swoop involving police in New Zealand, Australia, and Canada.

Defence counsel Tony Greig did not seek bail for Dale during the remand for sentence.
