Wellington, Nov 29 NZPA - Relatives of victims of the Mt Erebus air disaster will tomorrow place a wreath on the mountain where the plane crash happened -- if conditions allow them to fly there.

Six people whose family members died in the crash landed in Antarctica on Friday.

They flew up to the crash site by helicopter that day, but were unable to land due to strong winds.

Yesterday, a memorial service was held at Scott Base to mark the 30th anniversary of the Air New Zealand DC10 crash, which killed 257 people in 1979.

Tomorrow, if the weather allows, the six planned to place a wreath and a koru-shaped capsule containing messages from families under the cross at the crash site, Scott Base co-ordinator Yvonne Costar said.

They are due to fly back to New Zealand later in the day.
