Emergency services are currently at the scene of a fatal crash on State Highway 3 North of Hawera.

One person has been confirmed killed as a result of a crash between a car and a truck near the Hawera Aerodrome at 4.20pm.

The Police serious crash team, CVIU staff, Hawera Police, as well as the Fire and Ambulance services are all in attendance.

State Highway 3 between Hawera and Normanby has been closed to traffic while a scene examination takes place. Detours are in place.

The cause of the crash is not yet known and details of the victim are not yet available.
