Wellington, Oct 17 NZPA - A former Inland Revenue Department (IRD) employee charged with corruption had a further three charges laid against him at Wellington District Court today.
Alex Song, 32, a former junior investigator for the IRD, was charged with corruption in September, but today he was charged on a further three charges of failing to keep security.
He has pleaded guilty to the corruption charge, but has not pleaded to the other three charges.
In September, Detective Senior Sergeant Darrin Thomson said the charge was a result of a complaint made in early July after a Chinese business couple approached police.
The couple's concerns were investigated and Song was arrested.
Judge Peter Butler permanently suppressed the couple's names today. Song was remanded on bail to appear on October 29.
